Breath Fully and Get That Oxygen to Your Body

Yoga is famous for its effects on strength and flexibility, however those who practice regularly can also benefit from healthier breathing.  A good yoga plan will help you to vitalize and control your breath leading to better usage of your lungs.  In turn you will get this amazing boost of energy from getting the proper amount of oxygen to your body.

For me it feel like a nice cold buzz over my body.  I have the energy to do what I need and enjoy more of my life.  You see, Oxygen is critical to all of the bodies cells and the more of it that you transfer through the lungs the better you are going to feel.  It is true that cardiovascular exercise can have these effects as well.  However, yoga can give you a cardio work out as well.

Sun Salutations is a set of continuous movements that are done at a quicker pace than the strength exercises.  Together they work on cardio conditioning as well as the strength and flexibility that yoga is known for.  I have been doing the Yoga for the Rest of Us program and experienced great results.  Not only to I feel amazing, but my body is falling in a more correct alignment which is improving this pain I get in my jaw.

Yoga for the Rest of Us is a great resource and is done in a way that meets you at your level.  I enjoy this tape 5 nights a week and find it exhilarating.

Moving Beyond the Brain

Life is full of experiences. As we travel along our path we begin to compile memories and attitudes based on what happens to us. Sometimes we have wounds and behaviors that have a destructive effect on our well being. In healing from negative events and influences many work on their own thoughts or self talk to try and restructure the brain. However, I believe that the entire body is involved in the healing process and that meditation using all of the senses, most importantly touch, as a more complete way of accessing and repairing the soul from negative events.

Feelings are felt more that just in the brain. One thing that you can do is to take an inventory of your emotions. First, ask how you’re feeling and then try to locate where those feelings originate. Write down what you’re feeling and where your body responds to those emotions. For example, I am sad, and I feel it in my chest. After awhile you will start to gain consciousness of how your emotions physically manifest. For example, when I am angry I tense my shoulders.

Now, that you can locate where your stresses are manifesting, it is time to use a variety of techniques to help your body to feel better. One thing that can help you to pass and emotion through your body is to touch the fear, sorrow, or pain with your mind and relax into the emotion. This allows you to express and dissolve the emotion. There is no reason to be frightened by your feelings. Feeling fully is a huge step towards letting go.

If your pain persists over a long period of time you can use memory to alleviate stress. Find some time to lie down by yourself. Make sure that you can find a comfortable position and will be uninterrupted of at least a half hour. Start the meditation by locating where the stress is manifesting. Concentrate and try to make your body remember what it was like to feel really good. Hold on to those memories as long as you can and try to let them grow through out your body, especially in places where the negative emotions stay.

Depending on the weight of what you are trying to recover the process may be more difficult. Remember that recovering from major stresses takes time. But using your body and your mind to trigger a more positive chemical climate for yourself can help make it through things that are tough to handle.

You may want to practice a half hour meditation every morning to prepare and refresh your self for the day. This technique can be used to wipe the slate clean and start each day fresh. You attitude while you are at can have a great affect on your performance.

I use these techniques to improve many aspects of my life. Right now, I am working on being consistent with an exercise program. It is helping to face the challenge of exercise and reap all the benefits of being happy and energetic.
